The AFL has asked clubs to tell them whether their priority draft pick system should be kept, changed or scrapped.
Currently, a club earning 16 premiership points (four wins) or fewer in a season is given an extra pick before the second round of the national draft.
Two consecutive seasons of such poor performance earns a club a priority pick before the draft’s first round.
If that rule stays, Brisbane, Port Adelaide and Gold Coast would be eligible for a pre-first round pick if they have a poor season this year.
The rule has been criticised for providing too great a disincentive for poor-performing clubs to win matches late in seasons.
AFL football operations manager Adrian Anderson on Tuesday confirmed the system was under review and said feedback was being sought from clubs, before a recommendation was put to the AFL Commission.
