Port are now genuine contenders for the flag according to the betting with online bookmaker sportsbet, with the Power firming from $14 to $8.00 to win the premiership after their victory last night.
Amazingly, they were $51 to win the flag at the start of the season and one punter will be all smiles, placing $1000 on the Power several weeks ago when they were at $21.
In other notable betting movements:
· Carlton v Collingwood: The Blues ($4.00) are on a winning streak, but punters aren’t convinced just yet, with three times the money coming for Collingwood at odds of $1.22.
· Hawthorn v St Kilda: Hawthorn are the shortest odds of any team at $1.04, but that hasn’t stopped punters from betting on them, with virtually no money coming for St Kilda at $9.00
· GWS v Port Adelaide: Punters are convinced that Port are the real deal, and they are the best backed team of the week so far at odds of $1.10.
· Adelaide v Melbourne: Punters aren’t sure what to do with this one. The Crows are clear favourites at $1.09, but there has been hardly any bets on either team.
· Brisbane v Sydney: Are Brisbane ($4.70) a chance in this one? Punters certainly think so, with money virtually even in this one against the Swans ($1.16).
· Essendon v Western Bulldogs: No surprises here, more than double the money on Essendon ($1.33) against the Bulldogs ($3.10).
· North Melbourne v Gold Coast: Punters can smell an upset here, with three times the money coming for the Suns ($4.30) over North ($1.20).
· Geelong v Richmond: Richmond ($4.75) may as well not even show up to this one according to punters, with all the money with the Cats ($1.18).
· West Coast v Fremantle: Both teams are coming off losses, but punters think the Dockers ($1.53) will respond the best, with three times the money on them compared to West Coast ($2.40)
· Port contenders for flag: After opening the season at $51, the Power are now into $8.00 to win the flag. One punter got on at $1000 at $21, so they will no doubt be watching with interest.
· Ablett & Swan firm for Brownlow: With Joel Selwood having another quiet one, Gary Ablett has further firmed from $4.00 to $3.25 for the Brownlow. Dane Swan’s BOG performance has seen his odds almost half from $21 to $12.
