Adelaide Crows vs Essendon Bombers Preview

Surprisingly, the Crows head back to Adelaide on Friday night favoured by two goals against the Bombers.

With their backs to the wall, Adelaide responded in a big way last week with a two-point road win over Carlton, a performance highlighted by Izak Rankine’s brilliance and most importantly, 18 marks inside 50.

Scoring and a lack of attacking footy had been frustrating the Crows’ faithful since the season started, and with a big scalp over a serious flag contender now under their belt, there’s plenty of reason for optimism moving forward.

The Bombers were superb last week in their win over the Dogs, dominating through the middle of the ground. The injury list still makes for grim reading, but it’s worth noting the Dons have won six in a row over the Crows dating back to 2018.

With all this said, I think the bookies have this one wrong.

The Bombers’ midfield has been one of the best in the competition so far, while they’ve also looked dangerous down back where they’ve averaged the fourth-most tackles inside 50.

On talent alone, the Crows have plenty to match the Dons through the middle of the ground, but with a spot in the eight potentially up for grabs, I think Essendon keeps this tight.
