Manly Sea Eagles vs North Queensland Cowboys
It’s the second week of the finals, with only two games taking place this weekend. The first clash kicks off on Friday night at 7.45pm, with the Manly Sea Eagles taking on the North Queensland Cowboys. Hosted at Allianz Stadium, this is do or die footy and both teams will be desperate to keep their season alive. The Sea Eagles began well last week against Canterbury, and were definitely the most aggressive side early on. They didn’t have much to show for it at half-time however, after only being able to score 10 points. While the Bulldogs were admittedly outstanding in defence, Manly will have to convert their energy into points if they want to have a win this weekend.

The North Queensland Cowboys are on a good run at the moment, and will be ready to take advantage of any lack of confidence in the Manly side. After winning their last five matches and averaging 35 points in attack while doing so, the Cowboys will be ready to test out Manly in every department. However, the Sea Eagles have beaten the Cowboys in their last two encounters, including a win at Dairy Farmers Stadium in Round 22 this year. This is shaping up to be a great match, with the hungriest team likely to make it over the line.
South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Canberra Raiders
The second match this weekend kicks off at ANZ Stadium on Saturday at 7.45pm. The Rabbitohs struggled with discipline against the Storm last weekend, and will have to be way more focussed if they want to stay in the competition. Greg Inglis will be the key man to watch for this game, with the forward packs of both sides ready to bash it out. While Souths are looking good for this match, it will not be an easy win with the Raiders in fierce form.
Canberra have won their past six games, and the shear momentum of these wins is really starting to show in terms of their confidence and drive. This will be their greatest asset this weekend, especially after a sorry start to the season. ANZ Stadium will play a big role however, with Souths’ strong record there perhaps enough to push them over the line. Canberra have a good record away from home however, although interestingly, their only loss at ANZ this year was to the Rabbitohs.
