2012 AFL Round 21 preview – Collingwood Magpies vs North Melbourne Kangaroos

Etihad Stadium, Saturday 18th August.

After scrambling to a six point win against the Saints a fortnight ago, the Magpies delivered a far more focused displayed to topple then competition leaders, Sydney last week by eight points. That win will give the Pies a needed boost for their run into the finals and are attempting to keep the momentum in place by naming an unchanged side for this week’s encounter against North Melbourne. The Pies have dominated the Kangaroos in recent time winning the last four clashes and seven of the last nine. This record does not make good reading for North supporters but they will be confident after winning eight of their last nine matches. The only lost, a narrow 2 point defeat at the hands of West Coast.

Last week’s win over Sydney might just spark the Pies and see them return to their best form, which would easily account for North however, North will need to keep winning to ensure their place in the eight and their efforts in this game will be an accurate indication on their readiness for the finals. If Collingwood produce – and there’s no reason they shouldn’t – their efforts of last week, they’ll win but the Roos with 21.5 start @ $1.92 is worth consideration.
