Adelaide Crows vs Fremantle Dockers
It’s week two of the AFL finals, and do-or-die time for all four teams playing this weekend. In the first clash the Adelaide Crows take on the Fremantle Dockers, with all the action kicking off at AAMI Stadium on Friday night at 8.45pm. Adelaide are slight favourites to take this one out, although you would have to be brave to rule Fremantle out after last weekend. While the Crows finished second on the ladder after a strong season, they now face being the first team eliminated in straight sets since West Coast in 2007.

The Dockers are one of the two truly in-form teams at the moment, and while they might not have the obvious quality of Hawthorn, they definitely have momentum on their side. Ruled out by many last week, Fremantle are playing like a team with nothing to lose. While they do – of course – have just as much to lose as Adelaide with this match, it seems they have less of a burden on their shoulders. The Dockers will be travelling for this one however, with lots of people expecting the Crows to bounce back on their home turf.
Collingwood Magpies vs West Coast Eagles
The second match-up of the week takes place on Saturday night at 7.50pm. Being hosted at the MCG, Collingwood are slight favourites to take this one out against the Eagles. The Pies looked good for much of last week against Hawthorn, but couldn’t keep it going all the way to the final whistle. It is hard to put too much blame on the Pies however, with Hawthorn such a class act at the moment. It was Collingwood who knocked the Eagles from the top 4 in the last round of the regular season, and they will be keen to prove themselves this weekend.
The Eagles stomped all over North Melbourne last weekend, with a 16 goal win that is sure to have their confidence up. The big West Coast forwards were especially dominant last week, although they will have a much harder time of it against Collingwood. History is also not on the side of the Eagles, who have not beaten the Magpies at the MCG since round two, 1995. No matter who wins however, this clash should be a killer game and should not disappoint.
