Punters have slashed the odds of Sonny Bill Williams winning the Clive Churchill medal from $10 into $6 at Sportingbet as money continues to stream in for a Roosters and Rabbitohs grand final.

Williams is now a slight favourite for the Clive Churchill medal ahead of Greg Inglis at $7, with Sam Burgess and James Maloney equal third favourites at $11.

“They just keep chipping away at Sonny and we’ve taken nearly double the number of bets for him than any other player,” Sportingbet Australia spokesman Andrew Brown said.

Daly Cherry Evans is the top rated Manly player at $17, while Jarrod Mullen, whose odds have been crunched from $151 into $34 at Sportingbet since the finals commenced, is the top Knight.

Meanwhile, the Roosters and Rabbitohs continue to be heavily backed to win their respective preliminary finals this weekend.

Souths are $1.50 into $1.45 at Sportingbet, while Manly has eased from $2.65 out to $2.85.

The Roosters have firmed from $1.40 into $1.35 and have been responsible for 80% of all wagers, resulting in the Knights’ odds drifting from $3.00 out to $3.30

“It’s been four-figure bet after four-figure bet for both the Roosters and the Bunnies but we’ve been struggling to write a ticket for Manly or Newcastle,” Brown said.

The Roosters are $2.40 favourites at Sportingbet to win the grand final, ahead of Souths at $2.60, Manly at $6 and Newcastle at $8.
