Adelaide’s Luke Brown an AFL Rising Star

Adelaide defender Luke Brown is the final nominee for this year’s AFL Rising Star award.

The 21-year-old half-back, who has played 24 AFL games, was nominated for his standout game against West Coast on Saturday night.

Brown, who has played 21 games this season, collected 21 disposals in Adelaide’s 86-point thrashing of the Eagles.

He is third Crow nominated for the Rising Star this year, following Brad Crouch and fellow backman Rory Laird.

“Luke plays with a maturity well beyond his years and has been very successful in restricting the opposition’s most dangerous forward each week,” Crows coach Brenton Sanderson said in a statement on Monday.

Brown was recruited Norwood’s 2012 SANFL premiership team and made his AFL debut in round 16 last season.
