The Stephen Brown trained Host Of The Party has been the biggest firmer at Sportingbet for Monday’s Darwin Cup after drawing favourably in barrier 2 for the 2000m feature.
Host Of The Party, one of three runners for Brown in the race, firmed from $9.00 into $6.50 at Sportingbet.
Spartan Eagle remains favourite but has drifted from $4.00 out to $5.50 at Sportingbet after drawing wide in gate 15.
“Spartan Eagle has enough leg speed to position up anywhere so the barrier shouldn’t be too much of an obstacle,” Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said.
Extra Zero, which was backed from $5.50 into $3.50 favourite for the Darwin Cup prior to a disappointing 8th behind Spartan Eagle last week, is a $6.50 equal second favourite.
“Punters haven’t abandoned Extra Zero and we took a bet of $2,000 at $6.50 for him immediately after the barrier draw,” Sullivan said.
Bolton and Red Colossus share the third line of betting at $9.00.
