Sharks trio cleared by ASADA: report

Three Cronulla players who played for the club during the 2011 NRL season have reportedly been cleared the Sports Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA).

Fairfax reports that Chad Townsend, Sam Tagataese and Ricky Leutele were part of a crisis meeting held by 13 Sharks players on the eve of the season following an investigation into the club’s supplement program under sport scientist Stephen Dank.

However, the trio are now not believed to be among the 30 NRL players required to organise interviews with ASADA officials.

Prop Bryce Gibbs, who attended the meeting as a show of support for his teammates, was also cleared this week having played for the Wests Tigers in 2011 when Dank was employed by the Sharks for an 11-week spell.
