Sydney Swans AFL speedster Gary Rohan has made an encouraging return after a near 15-month layoff.
Rohan, 22, turned out for the Swans reserves on Sunday in his first game after breaking a leg against North Melbourne in round four of last season.
The injury-plagued youngster, who played just 22 games in his first three seasons, came on just after halftime to cheers and applause from the early arriving spectators at the SCG.
He played between 35 and 40 minutes, mostly up forward, in the match against Greater Western Sydney reserves.
With the crowd cheering his every touch, Rohan kicked 2.1 and logged nine kicks and a handball and three marks.
His first goal in the third quarter came from a mark and set shot.
Rohan doubled his tally in the final quarter after setting the goal up with a strong run and hitting the target after getting the ball back.
Renowned for his pace, Rohan made a couple of trademark dashes, though he was penalised on one occasion for carrying the ball too far without a bounce.
