Sabine Lisicki and Novak Djokovic favourites for Wimbledon 2013

The shock loss of defending Wimbledon Champion Serena Williams to Sabine Lisicki has thrown the Women’s draw wide open ahead of the quarter-finals.

“Williams’ loss continued the amazing run of upsets at this year’s Wimbledon but plenty of punters were keen to take the $8 on offer for Lisicki and it was actually a bad result for us,” Centrebet’s Michael Felgate said.

“Williams was a $1.22 favourite to win the title before being bundled out, now it is anyone’s race.”

There are two Grand Slam winners left in the final eight including 2011 Wimbledon Petra Kvitova who is now equal favourite with Lisicki at $3.50. French Open Champion Li Na is next in the market at $5.50.

The Men’s draw is considered a race in two with Novak Djokovic ($1.85) and Andy Murray ($2.20) dominating betting.

“After Nadal and Federer were knocked out, the only players punters want to back to win are Djokovic and Murray,” Centrebet’s Michael Felgate said.

“The Djokovic-Murray final is into $1.40.”
