The pressure may be on Brisbane coach Anthony Griffin but it at least eased somewhat after Brisbane turned around a horror run with a 32-12 NRL win over fellow battlers Wests Tigers at Suncorp Stadium on Monday night.

On the night Queensland Origin hopeful Ben Hannant returned for Brisbane, so did their winning form as the hosts ran in six tries to two in front of 21,339 – including a double to winger Josh Hoffman.

Griffin admitted he was feeling the heat ahead of the Wests Tigers clash after Brisbane lost five of their last six games – including three straight – to arrive at their former fortress in 12th spot on the NRL ladder.

On paper the hosts started to look like the Broncos of old after Hannant returned from a month-long calf injury in a last gasp audition for the Queensland side to be unveiled on Tuesday.

And despite an early hiccup, Brisbane started to play like it in a match that must have brought a rare smile to Griffin’s face.

While Hannant impressed after being injected into the starting side, all of Brisbane’s big guns fired – particularly lock Corey Parker – to quickly have the visitors over a barrel.

Brisbane led 16-6 at halftime despite alarm bells sounding early for the embattled hosts when fullback James Tedesco pounced on a clever grubber from another to return from Wests Tigers’ injury list – Liam Fulton – to score in just the fourth minute.

Then it was all one way traffic.

Justin Hodges (56th minute), Scott Prince (66th) and Josh Hoffman (79th) crossed, the procession only interrupted by Wests Tigers’ Sauaso Sue (76th).

The omens were bad for Wests Tigers early on – lock Braith Anasta came off in the 10th minute with a suspected shoulder injury and hooker Masada Iosefa was placed on report in the 26th for sliding his knees into Sam Thaiday.

Iosefa was also denied a 33rd minute try for obstruction.
