Suns beat Dogs for back-to-back AFL wins

Gold Coast posted back-to-back AFL wins for the first time as they beat a tired Western Bulldogs by 32 points at Metricon Stadium on Saturday.

The Suns, who beat Melbourne by 60 points last weekend, ran away with the match in a seven-goal-to-one third quarter on their way to the 13.15 (93) to 8.13 (61) victory.

The defeat leaves the Bulldogs down with the Demons and winless Greater Western Sydney at the wrong end of the ladder with just one victory from eight matches.

Hardman Campbell Brown was a star for the Suns in his second match back from suspension while youngsters Jaeger O’Meara and Aaron Hall were also too good for the Bulldogs.

Brown booted three goals and had a hand in several more while Hall was the other multiple goalkicker for the Suns with two majors.

Jake Stringer and Luke Markovic booted three goals each for the Bulldogs.

In a run of six unanswered third-quarter goals, O’Meara provided the standout moment when he cleverly threw the ball on his left boot as he was being dragged to the ground in a tackle.

The teenager just made enough contact to beat the defence and kick an inspirational goal.

The visitors had actually started well, kicking the first two goals of the match as they dominated the first quarter.

By as they have for most of the season, the Bulldogs failed to make it count on the scoreboard and only led by 12 points in the opening term.

The Suns reduced the margin to five points by halftime, with Hall missing a set shot from dead in front at the end of the half which would have levelled the scores.

But despite losing ruckman Zac Smith when he was subbed at halftime with a knee injury, the Suns were rampant in the third term and went on to claim a club record fourth win in a season.
