Humphreys steps down as NRL Tigers boss

Wests Tigers’ disastrous NRL season has claimed another victim, with chief executive Stephen Humphreys stepping down.

Humphreys told the team of his decision to resign after their miserable 54-10 thrashing on Friday night at the hands of South Sydney.

Humphreys, the son of former rugby league administrator Kevin Humphreys, took on the role in 2009.

Speaking on Triple M NRL, Tigers skipper Robbie Farah said he was disappointed by the news and praised Humphreys’ success at the club.

The joint-venture has historically struggled with the bitter divide between the Balmain and Western Suburbs factions at boardroom level.
