Preview:

It’s been an up and down month of results for Collingwood and their overall record of 4-3, sees them sitting in eighth spot on the ladder.

Last week they travelled to Perth to take on the Dockers but were blown off the part early by their opponents who raced to a five goal lead at quarter time.
The Pies rallied in the second half and hit the lead at the start of the final quarter but had nothing left late and Dockers recorded a 27 points win in the end.

Things obviously do not get easier for Collingwood this week as they take on the undefeated Cats.

Geelong are in impeccable form and have accounted for Hawthorn, Sydney and Essendon thus far this season.

Despite being slow out of the block in each game, you know Geelong are going to build and be in a position come the back of the game, to win the match. Expect they’ll have too many guns for Collingwood.

Cats’ Kelly banned for two AFL games

Veteran Geelong midfielder James Kelly is out for two matches after the AFL tribunal on Tuesday found him guilty of a high bump on Essendon’s Brendon Goddard.

The three-man jury took just six minutes to rule that Kelly made forceful contact to Goddard’s neck or head.

Goddard gave evidence that there was no high contact.

Kelly and Geelong football manager Neil Balme made no comment after the hearing.

Apart from the two-game ban for the rough conduct charge, Kelly also has 89 carryover points hanging over him for 12 months.

That is only 11 points short of a another one-game ban.

Kelly would have received the same suspension had he taken an early plea.

But there would have been only 16 carryover points.
