Ellyse Perry’s recovery from ankle surgery has been stalled by infection but the dual international is expected to be fit for the Ashes in England in August.
Cricket Australia (CA) confirmed on Wednesday Perry’s recovery from initial surgery to remove bone spurs from her ankle has been pushed back by two to three weeks after she developed a minor infection.
The infection was treated with an ankle arthroscopy and joint washout, CA said
“Ellyse had developed some pain in her left ankle in the last few days,” CA’s chief medical officer Justin Paoloni said in a statement.
“This latest surgery is expected to set Ellyse’s rehabilitation timeline back an extra two-three weeks.”
The 22-year-old is expected to return to bowling in 10 to 12 weeks and will available for selection in the Ashes Test against England beginning August 11.
