WA in charge of Shield game v Qld

Western Australia are well on their way to securing a spot in their first Sheffield Shield final in 14 years after yet another dominant performance from Michael Hussey.

WA were all out for 228 in their first innings and holding a 64-run lead over Queensland at the WACA.

The Bulls were one for 10 at lunch, still trailing WA by 54 runs.

Hussey looked almost certain to reach a ton following a huge six over mid-wicket to move into the 90s but came to a close when he was caught out by Queensland’s Joe Burns for 96.

The 37-year-old was left on 48 not out at stumps on day two and was in red-hot form early day three.

Queensland looked set to field for most of the day until a string of wickets came from Ryan Harris.

Harris claimed Sam Whiteman as the first wicket of the day, sending him back to the shed with 11 after a spectacular catch off Chris Hartley.

The past-faced bowler later sent WA teenager Ashton Agar walking for 16 after a diving catch from captain James Hopes.
