WA bats crash against SA in Shield

Two batsmen made golden ducks as Western Australia lost five wickets in nine overs against South Australia in the Sheffield Shield match in Adelaide.

In reply to SA’s 248 all out, the Warriors were 5-103 nearing tea on Friday’s second day.

WA were coasting at 0-61 but Redbacks skipper Johan Botha triggered a collapse as the visitors lost five wickets for 15 runs.

Botha dismissed opener Liam Davis for 34 and next ball claimed John Rogers for a golden duck.

The South African-born spinner soon claimed Adam Voges (three) before paceman Carl Tietjens struck.

Tietjens had opener Marcus Harris caught behind for 22 and trapped Mitchell Marsh lbw next ball.

Botha had figures of 3-24 from 15 overs while WA’s hopes of getting near SA’s first innings total rest largely with Mike Hussey, who was not out 28.

Earlier, SA lost their final three wickets for no runs inside the initial 30 minutes of Friday’s play.

WA quick Michael Hogan finished with 5-40 from 23 overs while spinner Ashton Agar and paceman Nathan Coulter-Nile both claimed two wickets.

Callum Ferguson top-scored with 63 while allrounder Jake Brown made 55.
