Tempted primed in top shape for 2026 Arrowfield Sprint

Tempted’s connections are alerting her Randwick foes with assistant trainer Johann Gerard-Dubord proclaiming her “the best she has been all preparation”.

This standout filly contests Saturday’s $1 million Arrowfield 3YO Sprint (1200m) off the back of her breakthrough Group 1 in the Surround Stakes (1400m) last time.

Her previous win demanded grit, yet she resumes at her ideal distance on Randwick’s track, and Gerard-Dubord, managing head trainer Ciaron Maher’s Sydney unit, marvels at how the three-year-old has flourished.

“The plan this preparation was to win a Group One, and the Surround was our target,” Gerard-Dubord said.

“She did that, and then we had two options, the T J (Smith Stakes) or the Arrowfield.

“The Godolphin team was keen to split their horses up (Tentyris and Tempted) and the Arrowfield is a nice target back against three-year-olds.

“She has beaten most of them in the past and back to 1200 fresh, it’s the best she has been all preparation.”

Tempted has notched six wins from 11 races, stays unbeaten after two this term, and at $1.70 favourite status, the Arrowfield is primed for her dominance.

Besides barrier eight of 10 posing a hurdle, Gerard-Dubord counts on her superiority and pilot Chad Schofield’s expertise to prevail.

“She has drawn a touch tricky so Chad will have to work it out early and find a spot, but she has such a good turn of foot and she’s such a good filly, hopefully she is just too good for them,” he said.

The Arrowfield continues to signal top talent lately, courtesy of winners like ensuing Everest star Classique Legend (2019), classy contender Wild Ruler (2021), and premier mare Joliestar from two years prior.
