Beaten form is good enough for Torabella in Members Mile 2025

Tony Gollan is determined to ensure Torabella doesn’t endure the same nightmare run she did last start, where early pressure and a wide trip cruelled her chances.

The mare was heavily supported as a $3.70 favourite in the Listed Tails Stakes (1500m) at Eagle Farm a fortnight ago but faded to finish 10th after being caught three-wide throughout.

She returns to the track on Saturday for the Listed Members Mile (1600m), this time at $7 with 54kg.

“She started favourite when there looked to be no speed at all last time,” Gollan said.

“Then, all of a sudden, they wanted to go flat out.

“She finished beside Sibaaq who came out and won the Open 1800m last week so I don’t think her beaten form is that bad because she did way too much work through the first half.

“I just want to see her get a more comfortable run… whether that’s leading or sitting third or fourth.”

Gollan is hopeful predicted showers—up to 16mm across Thursday and Friday—soften the Eagle Farm surface.

Tails Stakes winner Miss Joelene sits atop the market at $2.75 in the same event.

Meanwhile, Hidden Wealth heads Gollan’s strong team in the Listed Falvelon Stakes (1500m), where he is a $3.90 chance despite carrying 60kg.

“He’s a class horse and that is why he’s got the 60-kilos,” Gollan said. “He’s in good shape and I’d love some rain around.”
