The Swans’ finals hopes were all but dashed last weekend after squandering a 35-point lead to lose by 44 against a surging GWS, ending their late-season push in deflating fashion.

Essendon’s collapse has been even more dramatic, with last Friday’s 93-point thumping at the hands of the Bulldogs marking their eighth consecutive loss—the club’s worst streak since 2016. To compound their woes, the Bombers are missing 15 players to injury, including seven from the side that defeated Sydney in Round 9, where Nic Martin starred with 38 disposals.
