Elite Beau impresses on debut and targets bigger goals

Elite Beau marked an impressive debut with a win at Ascot on Wednesday, signalling potential for bigger achievements in the future.

The $375,000 yearling, trained by Grant and Alana Williams, made waves following an earlier trial victory. Starting as the $2.90 favourite, Elite Beau enjoyed a smooth run, sitting sixth before sprinting strongly in the straight when jockey William Pike asked for a burst of speed.

Elite Beau triumphed by ¾ of a length over Pgymalion, with Solar Chant finishing third. Brazen Butcher, another top contender, took fifth place.

Following the win, Tabtouch adjusted Elite Beau’s odds for the upcoming $500,000 Group 2 Karrakatta Plate (1200m), shortening them from $15 to $11 for the race on April 26.

Grant Williams shared his satisfaction, praising the colt’s intelligence and quick learning ability. He expressed cautious optimism about Elite Beau’s future, noting the colt’s potential improvement leading up to the Perth Stakes and Karrakatta Plate.

Pike, who has partnered with leading Karrakatta Plate contenders, sees much upside in Elite Beau, describing the colt as raw but naturally gifted.

Elite Beau’s win provided a boost for China Horse Club, who partnered with Grant and Alana Williams and Suman Hedge Bloodstock to purchase the colt at the 2024 Perth Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
