Grandstand Cup Day 2025 celebrates life after racing

Partnering with Perth Racing, the event aimed to showcase the versatility and success of former racehorses in their post-racing careers. Attendees had the chance to interact with retired thoroughbreds, hear their transition stories, and enjoy family-friendly activities.

Racing WA Animal Welfare Operations Manager Kay Fuller emphasized the importance of highlighting these equine athletes’ new journeys and Racing WA’s commitment to rehoming efforts.

“Off the Track WA is focused on providing fulfilling lives for racehorses after their careers on the track, and it was fantastic to collaborate with Perth Racing to bring this event to life,” Kay said.

“The public’s enthusiasm for meeting the horses was amazing. Many don’t often get the chance to be around them, and this event gave them a wonderful opportunity to experience their gentle and adaptable nature.”

Perth Racing CEO James Oldring reinforced the organization’s dedication to equine welfare and life beyond racing.

“We were delighted to dedicate Grandstand Cup Day to honoring retired racehorses and the crucial role Off the Track WA plays in their future,” James said.

“It was fantastic to see the broader community engage and learn more about equine welfare beyond the racetrack.”

Throughout the day, the Off the Track WA team provided insights into their rehoming initiatives and connected with attendees interested in the ongoing journey of these remarkable horses.
