Lindsay Park is looking forward to a rise in distance and getting back on a bigger track when Always On My Mind competes in Adelaide.
Always On My Mind will bid to give Ben and JD Hayes a second victory in a stakes race when she runs in the Group 3 Auraria Stakes (1800m) on Saturday.
The daughter of Deep Impact and Stay With Me, has raced three times and has given Ben Hayes the indication she is looking for distance.
And if she performs up to expectations on Saturday, the Group 1 Australasian Oaks (2000m) at Morphettville on April 30 may become a target.
The Hayes brothers secured their first Group 1 victory together when Mr Brightside took out the Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Randwick last Saturday.
Always On My Mind was successful on debut at Pakenham in February before running second at Sandown in early March before finishing eighth to Daisies in the Group 3 Alexandra Stakes (1600m) at The Valley on March 25.
“I thought in her run at The Valley we got dictated to and got shuffled back further than we wanted, but she was quite good late and hit the line really well,” Ben Hayes said.
“I think she will get better once she gets out in trip and she’s out to 1800 metres now.
“With a little bit of luck and the way she finished off, she would have finished closer at The Valley and if she runs well here, we’ll head to the Australasian Oaks and the SA Fillies Classic.
“She’ll stay all day.”
Always On My Mind did not go through the sales as a yearling, but a half-sister to the filly was sold at the Australian Easter Yearling Sale on Wednesday.
The filly, by Dundeel, was sold for $1.7 million and purchased by Hawkes Racing.
