Harinath latest to fall at Cricket NSW

Chairman Dr Harry Harinath has become the latest victim of the bloodletting at Cricket NSW, after stepping down from his post, it was announced on Wednesday.

Harinath joins former Cricket NSW chief executive David Gilbert and ex-state coach Anthony Stuart, who have both also made way as the organisation seeks to rebuild after a series of poor on-field performances.

It is understood Harinath came under pressure to resign after the terrible performances for Big Bash League franchise Sydney Thunder and the continued poor form of NSW in both the Sheffield Shield and the one-day domestic competition.

Thunder chief executive John Dyson is also expected to be in the firing line when a review of both Sydney BBL franchises, the Thunder and the Sydney Sixers, begins next month.

Sixers chief executive Stuart Clarke resigned last month in frustration at the state of cricket administration in NSW, but will play a part in the review.

Dr Harinath handed in his resignation at a Cricket NSW board meeting on Tuesday night. He retains his role as a board director of Cricket NSW and Cricket Australia, but hands over the chairman’s position to fellow board director John Warn.

“It felt like the right time to make the decision and to give the organisation the chance to look to the future,” Dr Harinath said in a Cricket NSW statement.
