Jockey Nash Rawiller under an injury cloud

Top jockey Nash Rawiller has suffered a major blow on the eve of the spring carnival, fracturing his foot in a freak incident at Hawkesbury’s Rowley Mile meeting.

The injury was inflicted when Rawiller dismounted from Fine Ruby prior to the first race on Thursday and his leg became wedged between the horse and a fence.

Rawiller was taken to Hawkesbury Hospital where it was confirmed he had suffered an undisplaced fracture with an open wound over the fracture.

Rawiller is due to consult a specialist on Friday to confirm the extent of the injury.

He is booked for rides in nine of the 10 races at Randwick on Saturday, including Dreamforce in the Group 1 Winx Stakes (1400m) and favourite Four Moves Ahead in the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m).

No replacements have been confirmed with Rawiller asking Racing NSW stewards to hold off from declaring new jockeys until he has met with his specialist.
