A very good race for the Sprinters rounds out the Warwick Farm card on Saturday. Several leading chances in the race are first up from a spell including multiple Group winner Whitefriars who returns to racing for the first time in almost two years.

1. WHITEFRIARS – J Cassidy (3)
His last start was a victory in the G2 Australian Stakes at Moonee Valley in January of 2011. Now a seven year old, his Trainer Rick Worthington has slowly built him up for his return with two barrier trails back in November, winning them both. Draws well but has 61.5kgs.
Odds: $4.60
2. HYPURR – P Robl – (6)
Hong Kong galloper who comes to the care of Jo Pride with a record of six wins from sixteen starts. By Fastnet Rock, the 6yo has been competitive in some of the leading races in Hong Kong with his most recent start being an eighth of eleven (beaten 5.5 lengths) behind Lucky Nine and Glorious Days in the G1 Jubilee Cup (1600m). He’s had two trials in readiness for this race and creates interest though his record suggests he’ll appreciate a trip a little longer than this one.
Odds: $21.00
3. SKYTRAIN – K McEvoy (1)
From the Darley team, this Lonhro gelding tackles this race first up and has the benefit of a winning barrier trail on the 4th December at Rosehill, under his belt. Possesses a good first up record and should’ve won first up last prep in a Listed race at Scone. Drawn nicely in gate one and will get this chance.
Odds: $7.50
4. ADEBISI – (3)
Group Three winner form the Queensland stables of Desleigh Forster who, having drawn well in gate three, has opted for this race rather than the Listed Lough Neagh Stakes (over 1350m) in his home state. Will go forward and produced a tough front-running effort last start in the G3 George Moore Stakes at Eagle Farm only to be claimed late by Startsmeup, finishing fifth, beaten 1.6 lengths.
Odds: $6.50
5. YOUTHFUL JACK – R Thompson (11)
Resumed from a sixteen week spell behind Irish Jig and despite finishing last in the field of eight, he was well looked after by his jockey first up under the weight of 59kgs. Drops down to 54.5kgs today (last time he was near this weight, he ran second to Howmuchdoyouloveme) and possesses a very good second up record. Drier the track the better and will be doing his best work late.
Odds: $41.00
6. IRISH DREAM – S Clipperton (8)
6yo mare from Ron Quinton’s yard who was in very good form over the Winter including a win in the Listed Winter Stakes (1400m) here at Warwick Farm. Found Pentasia too slick first up at Rosehill a fortnight back and again, comes up against a handy group of sprinters here. Look for her late but fancy she’ll find a couple too nippy.
Odds: $16.00
7. SLOW THE FLOW – C Reith (2)
A 5yo daughter of Hussonet who rounded out her last campaign with placings in the G3 Bellmaine Stakes (behind Psychologist) and G3 Mannerism (behind Hi Belle). Has had two barrier trails in preparation for her return and albeit in lesser grade, has performed well first up previously.
Odds: $12.00
8. RIVA DE LAGO – C Brown (5)
He finished very well be the in-form Pentasia to run second (beaten 1.5 lengths) when first up in a BM 95 a fortnight ago. Will get back but can produce a big finish on his day and there’s genuine excuses for his patchy second up form. He’ll be ne to include, especially if the track is showing any bias to those running on.
Odds: $5.50
9. BOUND TO BLUSH – J McDonald (9)
She was very impressive winning first up off a long break at Rosehill in a BM 80 back in November and has backed that up since with a narrow second (beaten a nose) by Jester’s Girl (good again last week) in the Listed Fillies and Mares Classic up in QLD. Takes on some boys here and only gets a kilo for it on her last run, coupled with her wide gate, happy to bet around here at her current quote.
Odds: $6.50
10. STRATFORD – J Taylor (10)
Started as 7/4 favourite when first up here at Warwick Farm three weeks ago and might have hit the lead to soon in the straight before condition gave out final stages and he ran third, beaten a head, to Irish Jig. Gets no favour from his draw and hard to see on the Speed Map, where he settles and given that his recent wins have been in lesser grade, not keen on him at the $6.50.
Odds: $6.00
11. MALABO – B Avdulla (4)
He just held his spot in the run home behind The Owl at Canterbury Friday night meeting three weeks back. His only win since June 2009 has been at Wagga. Will be safely held.
Odds: $126.00
SUMMARY
Think it’ll pay to follow his Trainer’s lead and include Adebisi here. From three, he’ll easily have enough pace to hold the fence and the Warwick Farm circuit should suit (provided there’s no basis which will be clearly evident by the time we get to this race. On his hammer will be Skytrain but it’s all about price for this bloke who has been known to burn punters in the past. Top one definitely has the class but hard to assess where he is at but couldn’t have him first up for almost 2yrs, under 61.5kgs at his early quote of $4.40.
