Heat make 4-109 in rain-marred innings

Chris Lynn belting the fastest half-century of this summer’s Big Bash League competition was the highlight of a rain-marred Brisbane Heat innings in Tuesday’s match with Perth at the Gabba.

Lynn took just 27 balls to reach his half-century before being dismissed for 51 as the Heat reached 4-109 off 13.1 overs before rain prematurely ended their innings.

Lynn’s knock, which featured three sixes and five boundaries, lifted the Heat from a precarious 3-19 thanks to an 84-run fourth-wicket stand with Dan Christian (37no).

Alfonso Thomas and Michael Beer both took two wickets each with Thomas’s scalps coming in the opening over including a smart catch on the boundary by youngster Hilton Cartwright to remove Luke Pomersbach (0).

The Scorchers’ innings, which will likely feature a revised target under the Duckworth-Lewis System, must begin by 9.12pm AEST to avoid the match being called a wash-out.
