Norwich goalkeeper John Ruddy will be sidelined for up to three months after suffering a thigh injury.
Ruddy was forced off in the closing stages of last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Everton and the England international revealed on Wednesday he will need surgery.
“Just to update everyone on my injury, unfortunately I have torn my thigh will be having surgery on Saturday and out for up to three months,” Ruddy wrote on Twitter.
The injury is a blow to Norwich in their fight to stay in the Premier League and will also frustrate England coach Roy Hodgson, who gave Ruddy his international debut in the friendly win over Italy in August.
A post on Norwich’s official Twitter account said: “City can confirm ‘keeper John Ruddy has a thigh injury which is being assessed, but he could be out for approximately three months.”
Mark Bunn was due to deputise for Ruddy in Wednesday’s Premier League clash against Southampton.
