South Australia’s Michael Klinger dropped two catches at slip, but the Redbacks still took the opening-session honours in their Sheffield Shield match against Western Australia at the WACA Ground.
At lunch on day one, the Warriors were struggling at 3-68, with opener Marcus Harris on 42 and new skipper Adam Voges yet to get off the mark.
But it could have been far worse for WA had Klinger been on his game at first slip.
Klinger dropped Harris on six off the bowling of paceman Chadd Sayers, before fumbling an edge from Marcus North when the former Warriors skipper was on seven.
North was dismissed a short time later without adding to his score, but Harris could yet make the Redbacks pay.
Earlier, WA opener Liam Davis was run-out for four after losing his footing while aborting a quick single.
Redbacks all-rounder Dan Christian found the edge of Sam Whiteman to reduce the Warriors to 2-44 and North’s dismissal just before lunch ensured South Australia entered the break with all the momentum.
