It’s been a difficult start to the season for both these sides as wins prove hard to come by.
Brisbane failed to show up last week at home against the Phoenix losing by 15-points. The loss leaves the Bullets sitting third-last on the ladder at 5-7, followed closely by the Hawks at 3-9.
The highs of Illawarra’s overtime win over Cairns a fortnight ago were shortlived as the Hawks also lost in blowout fashion to the Breakers last week. Winning on the road in Auckland was always going to be tough, but it was disappointing to see the Hawks put up only 79-points.
A sellout crowd is expected at Nissan Arena on Saturday night as Brisbane fans lineup to get a glimpse at LaMelo Ball. The Bullets have also won five straight games over Illawarra, leaving the home side as heavy favourites.
While the Hawks have been a tough watch for most of the season, it’s still worth backing Illawarra to keep this game close.
For all their problems, the Hawks have quietly been the second-best rebounding side in the competition – which has been a real area of concern for the Bullets in recent weeks.
The Hawks are also 3-2 as the road underdog at the line against Brisbane, so prepare yourself for a potential classic.
