Tennis player Sergei Bubka injured in fall

Ukrainian tennis player Sergei Bubka was taken to hospital in the early hours of Thursday after falling three floors from a window, according to French reports.

The website of RMC radio said he was locked inside a bathroom when he opened the window and tried to reach an adjacent window and fell.

The report said he was taken to Georges-Pompidou Hospital in Paris and treated for multiple fractures.

The 25-year-old, ranked 186th, is the son of pole vaulting great Sergei Bubka – the only athlete to have won six world championships in the same individual discipline, from 1983 to 1999. He also took gold at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
