Queensland require 186 runs from 32 overs in the final session to defeat South Australia in the Sheffield Shield match in Adelaide.
Chasing 222 to win, the Bulls were 1-39 at tea on Friday’s final day.
Test offspinner Nathan Lyon struck early for the Redbacks, dismissing opener Wade Townsend for a duck.
But Usman Khawaja (14 not out) and Alex Kemp (21 not out) progressed to tea for the Bulls, who have already banked first innings points.
Earlier, SA were bowled out for 225 in their second innings with Dan Christian top-scoring with 71.
But Christian was one of three needless run outs for the Redbacks.
Callum Ferguson, on 18, prodded to midwicket and foolishly set off for a single before being rightfully sent back by Christian.
Lyon (10) was run out in a mix up with Christian, who in turn was run out in a mishap with No.10 Daniel Worrall.
