SA and Qld fight for first innings points

South Australia need two more Queensland wickets to collect first innings points in the Sheffield Shield match in Adelaide.

The Bulls were 8-370 at tea on Thursday’s third day, 32 runs behind SA, with opener Wade Townsend and Joe Burns making centuries.

SA allrounder Dan Christian has 4-69 while Test offspinner Nathan Lyon and paceman Peter George each have two wickets.

Burns (116) and Townsend (129) put on 189 runs for the fourth wicket but Queensland have lost frequent wickets since the partnership was broken by Christian just before lunch.

The Bulls appeared set to trail on the first innings when 8-339.

But Ben Cutting (34 not out) and Cameron Boyce (15 not out) have put on an unbroken 31 runs for the ninth wicket.

Cutting has been particularly aggressive, cracking two fours and two sixes in his run-a-ball innings which helped increase the tempo for the Bulls, who scored 125 runs in 29 overs between lunch and tea for the loss of three wickets.
