Kyrgios defaulted in Rome after tantrum

Nick Kyrgios has been thrown out of the Italian Open after being defaulted in his second-round clash with Norway’s Caspar Rudd for hurling a chair onto the court.

The controversial Canberran had just been broken in the third set and as he approached the sideline at the changeover, he kicked a drinks bottle before picking up the wooden seat and launching it.

Rudd will now face Juan Martin del Potro in the third round.
