Ajla Tomljanovic is through to the semi-finals of the Morocco Open after a straight-sets victory over Sweden’s Rebecca Peterson.
The Australian No.2 eased past Peterson 6-2 6-4 in Rabat to set up a third showdown of the year with Britain’s No.1 Johanna Konta.
It will be Tomljanovic’s first semi-final appearance since being beaten by Daria Kasatkina at the Kremlin Cup in Moscow in October 2018.
The 25-year-old saw off Konta in two sets at the Brisbane International in January with Konta gaining revenge with a gruelling three-set win at the Australian Open on a final-set tie-break.
The match will be world No.47 Konta’s first clay-court semi-final of her career following her three-set victory over second seed Hsieh Su-Wei on Thursday.
The other semi-final, also to be played on Friday, sees sixth-seeded Maria Sakkari face Belgium’s Alison Van Uytvanck.
