Tsitsipas triumphs in dramatic Open clash

Young gun Stefanos Tsitsipas has recovered from a spectacular mid-match meltdown to become the first Greek player ever through to the fourth round of the Australian Open.

The 20-year-old 14th seed triumphed 6-3 3-6 7-6 (9-7) 6-4 over Georgia’s Nikoloz Basilashvili in two hours and 54 minutes at Margaret Court Arena.

The rising star was hit with two code violations for a wild, expletive-laden outburst in the third set before regaining his cool to book a late-16 date on Sunday with either defending champion Roger Federer or American Taylor Fritz.
