Former Australian Open finalist Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has moved into the Brisbane International quarter-finals with a straight sets win over lucky loser Taro Daniel.

Former world No.5 Tsonga booked a final eight showdown with Australian No.1 Alex de Minaur after a 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 victory over Japan’s Daniel.

World No.77 Daniel got a late call-up into the main draw after top seed Rafael Nadal pulled out of the tournament with a thigh strain.
