Queensland paceman Ben Cutting will return from a back injury in next week’s Futures League four-day cricket clash with Tasmania’s second XI.
Cutting, named 12th man for last year’s first Test of the Australian summer in Brisbane, will turn out for the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) alongside former Test spinner Nathan Hauritz and promising batsman Chris Lynn.
Cutting and his QAS teammates will play club cricket on the weekend ahead of the four-day fixture, which starts on Monday.
Cutting has made a full recovery from the back injury he suffered while batting during Australia A’s tour of England in July and August.
The 25-year-old burst into contention for his maiden national call-up after a stellar start to last year’s domestic season, only to suffer a side strain shortly after being omitted from the opening Test against New Zealand.
Hauritz, who moved from NSW back to his home state during the off-season, will captain QAS.
