Almandin unlikely to contest Spring Cups

Melbourne Cup winner Almandin is unlikely to contest any of the feature Spring Cups this year after a tough Autumn campaign.

Almandin won the Group 1 Tancred Stakes in the Autumn before a tough run in the Sydney Cup where he jumped as favourite but finished mid field.

The 2016 Melbourne Cup winner is unlikely to contest either the 2018 Caulfield Cup or 2018 Melbourne Cup after recovering poorly for the Sydney Cup disappointment.

Also getting confirmation from @SkyRacingAU‘s @AndrewBensley this morning that 2016 Melbourne Cup winner Almandin WILL NOT be contesting the cups in the spring following his poor recovery after his runs in the Autumn.
