Australians Ashleigh Barty and John Millman have both booked places in the quarter-finals at Britain’s Eastbourne International.
Barty will face world No.2 Caroline Wozniacki after a quick third-round victory over Taiwan’s Hsieh Su-Wei.
Barty defeated Taiwan’s Hsieh Su-Wei 6-0 6-4, once again deploying her strong first serve and formidable forehand play to wrap up the match in 74 minutes.
The Australian No.1 belted out three aces to deal her opponent a bagel in the first set.
Then, after string of unforced errors from Hsieh in second set, Barty was on track for second bagel at 5-1.
Her opponent found new life and recovered to 5-4, but it was too little, too late as the Queenslander again deployed her formidable first serve to send herself into the quarter-finals.
There she will face top seed Wozniacki, who eliminated British No.1 Johanna Konta 4-6 6-1 6-4 in two hours earlier on Thursday.
Fellow Australian John Millman also made it through to the final eight at Eastbourne after defeating Argentine Leonardo Mayer in a double tiebreak match that ended 7-6 (9-7) 7-6 (7-4).
The 29-year-old will face Italian Marco Cecchinato in the quarter-finals.
Barty’s next opponent, Wozniack,i knocked out British No.1 Johanna Konta 4-6 6-1 6-3 earlier on Wednesday.
Konta had not dropped a set against Wozniacki in their two previous meetings at the 2017 Australian Open and the final of last year’s Miami Open.
Konta broke the Dane in the opening game before she responded to dropping her own serve by breaking again to go 4-3 up and eventually taking the set.
But Wozniacki responded impressively by racing through the next two sets and sealed victory with an ace on her second match point.
