Collingwood are awaiting further information on skipper Scott Pendlebury’s injured ankle after he limped out of the Pies’ AFL win over Brisbane.

Pendlebury was a key contributor for Nathan Buckley’s side in a seven-point win until he hobbled from the Gabba in the third quarter on Sunday.

“It’s a sprained ankle at this point … he just couldn’t get it going,” Buckley said.

“He tried to go down into the rooms and we tried to get him up but we’ll know more about that in the next day of two.

“He’s fairly bullish about it but just felt he was impeded enough not to play his role, basically.

“We’ll see what happens when the dust settles.”

The Magpies improved to ninth and a 4-3 record with the win and face a tough clash against Geelong at the MCG in round eight.

In other injury news from round seven, Adelaide coach Don Pyke is hopeful Wayne Milera won’t become the Crows’ latest hamstring victim.

But the emerging defender remains in doubt for next Saturday’s Showdown against arch-rivals Port Adelaide.

Milera went off the ground in the second quarter of their 55-point victory over winless Carlton to have the back of his leg iced and did not re-emerge after halftime.

After Pyke on Wednesday expressed confidence that the club’s wretched run of hamstring injuries is behind them, scans will reveal if Milera will join teammates Taylor Walker, Eddie Betts, Matt Crouch, Kyle Hartigan, Kyle Cheney, Sam Gibson and Lachlan Murphy as the Crows’ eighth hamstring casualty, seven rounds into 2018.

“I don’t know if it’s quite (a hamstring),” Pyke said after Saturday’s game.

“It’s a bit early to say it’s a hamstring at this point. It’s in the back of the knee area, around the tendon.

“I haven’t spoken to the doctors yet but clearly at halftime they got him out and felt it wasn’t worth taking the risk at that point.”

Other key injuries arising from round seven include West Coast’s Luke Shuey (hamstring), Carlton’s Levi Casboult (ribs), St Kilda’s Paddy McCartin (neck) and Richmond’s Dion Prestia (calf).

Tigers skipper Trent Cotchin was a late withdrawal with a knee problem following his side’s round six win over the Magpies.
