NZ win toss, batting in West Indies Test

New Zealand have won the toss and will bat first against West Indies in the first Test at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.

The Kiwis, looking to bounce back from series losses in the preceding Twenty20 and one-day internationals, left out fast bowler Tim Southee and legspinner Tarun Nethula, while BJ Watling and Trent Boult also miss out through injury.

Left-arm seamer Neil Wagner, born in South Africa, was included for his debut.

West Indies welcomed back fast bowler Kemar Roach and veteran Shivnarine Chanderpaul to a side confident after its limited-overs victories.

The hosts omitted opening batsman Adrian Barath and fast bowler Tino Best from their squad of 13.
