Menzel and Tippett dropped in AFL shocks

Geelong forward Daniel Mezel is a shock axing for their blockbuster AFL qualifying final against Richmond.

Sydney have also sprung a selection surprise, dropping Kurt Tippett and recalling Sam Naismith from an abdominal strain for Saturday’s SCG elimination final against Essendon.

While the Bombers regain Orazio Fantasia and Michael Hurley from injury, key forward Cale Hooker is out because bone bruising in a leg.

The Swans also regain Dan Hannebery and Tom Papley for Will Hayward and Harry Cunningham.

Hurley (calf), Fantasia (hamstring) and Hooker all had fitness tests on Wednesday, with the Bombers also dropping Jayden Laverde.

Menzel has been axed despite kicking 38 goals in 17 games this season.

The Cats have also dropped Wylie Buzza, while captain Joel Selwood is back from ankle surgery and Zach Guthrie is recalled.

The Tigers regain Josh Caddy from his hamstring injury and have left out Oleg Markov.

Port Adelaide have brought in Jarman Impey for Aidyn Johnson, while West Coast are unchanged for their Saturday elimination final at Adelaide Oval.
