Australian top seed John Peers and his Finnish partner Henri Kontinen have advanced to the US Open doubles semi-finals in New York.
Hoping to add to their 2017 Australian Open crown, Peers and Kontinen outclassed Townsville’s John-Patrick Smith and American Nicholas Monroe 6-3 6-4 in the quarter-finals at Flushing Meadows.
It will be the third grand slam semi of the year for Peers, who also reached the final four at Wimbledon in a promising sign ahead of Australia’s Davis Cup showdown with Belgium next week.
