THE MEN WHO COULD REPLACE NEIL HENRY AS GOLD COAST COACH
KEVIN WALTERS
Potentially the best credentialled of all options given his role as Queensland State of Origin coach. Has also previously served as an assistant to Wayne Bennett and Craig Bellamy, but the man himself has already questioned if now is the right time to take over an NRL club.
DES HASLER
Is still contracted to Canterbury until the end of 2019 but pressure is mounting on his future given the Bulldogs’ poor finish to the season. Further wins after Sunday’s victory could help alleviate the heat at Canterbury, but if he’s let go the Titans could pounce.
GARTH BRENNAN
Is seen as one of the next cabs off the rank in terms of rookie coaches. Credited with bringing through the young generation of superstar Panthers, Brennan has attracted interest from English Super League clubs. The Titans could be his chance to make a mark.
ADAM O’BRIEN
Worked with Titans senior player Kevin Proctor in Melbourne’s development system, before taking up an assistant role under Bellamy in 2014. Widely touted as the man who could take over in Melbourne once Bellamy finally hangs up the clipboard.
CRAIG HODGES
Took Ash Taylor to an under-20s grand final at Brisbane in 2014, before moving to the Titans as an assistant this season. Will take over as an interim coach with fellow assistant Terry Matterson, who could also be an outsider given he has coached in the English Super League.
ANTHONY SEIBOLD
Queensland’s assistant State of Origin coach who is currently working under Michael Maguire at South Sydney. Another possible candidate who has come through Craig Bellamy’s system in Melbourne, it seems likely he will one day land an NRL role.
