Ruthven will join fellow Queensland Derby winner Eagle Way in the John Moore stable in Hong Kong.
The colt was trained by Ciaron Maher to three wins and five seconds including the South Australian Derby.
As well as the 2016 Queensland Derby winner Eagle Way and runner-up Rodrico, Moore also trains 2015 runner-up Werther who is the reigning Horse of the Year.
Maher said while he was disappointed to lose Ruthven, the offer from Moore’s owner Albert Hung was a big one which the Australian owners accepted.
