Katelyn Mallyon sweats on Newmarket Handicap ride

Katelyn Mallyon will front the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board in a bid to ride Super Cash in the 2017 Newmarket Handicap.

Mallyon was suspended for careless riding at Flemington on Saturday and given a 12-meeting ban which, as it stands, will keep her out until March 14.

She is appealing both the decision and severity of penalty handed out by stewards and will have her appeal heard on Tuesday in a bid to ride Super Cash in Saturday’s Group One sprint at Flemington.

Mallyon guided the Andrew Noblet-trained mare to win the Rubiton Stakes at Caulfield on February 11.

If she is unsuccessful in Tuesday’s appeal, apprentice Ben Allen is expected to take the ride.

Super Cash is a $21 chance with Sportsbet.com.au.
