Narine stars as Aussies make 9-154

Spinner Sunil Narine starred for the West Indies as Australia struggled to reach 9-154 off their 40 overs in the rain-affected second one-dayer at St Vincent.

David Hussey top-scored for Australia with 37 in an innings which was interrupted by a one-hour-and-40-minute rain-delay which reduced the game to a 40-over per-side affair.

The rain means the West Indies need to score 158 after the application of the Duckworth-Lewis method to Australia’s total.

Narine made the most of the low and slow Arnos Vale Cricket Ground deck to post career-best ODI figures of 4-27 off eight overs.

The 23-year-old was aided by impressive fast-bowler Kemar Roach (2-23), who started Australia’s struggles by removing David Warner (13) and Peter Forrest (0) in the second over after the rain delay.

Australia failed to build on several promising starts with Michael Hussey (24), Shane Watson (25) and George Bailey (21) all falling after getting themselves set.

The final score may be enough though with runs hard to come by at the Arnos Vale Ground and Australia’s bowlers on a high after claiming six wickets for seven runs on their way to a 64-run win over the hosts in Friday’s first match.
